MISSION STATEMENT
Middleton High School is a learning community that fosters intellectual growth and habits of commitment, reflection, wellness and wonderment, developing citizens who make a living, a life and a difference.


Graduation Requirements - ending with the class of 2014

English: 4 Credits

  • Two (2) semesters of 9th Grade English
  • Two (2) semesters of 10th Grade English
  • One (1) semester of speech
  • Three (3) semesters of English electives

Social Studies: 3 Credits

  • Two (2) semesters of Social Studies 9
  • Two (2) semesters of Social Studies 10
  • Two (2) semesters of Social Studies electives

Mathematics: 2 Credits

  • Four (4) semesters of mathematics which incorporate instruciton in the properties, processes, and symbols of arthmetic and elements of algebra, geometry, and statistics. 

Science: 2 Credits

  • Four (4) semesters of science which incorporate instruction in the biological sciences and physical sciences

Physical Education: 1.5 Credits

  • One (1) year of 9th grade physical education
  • 1.0 credits of different physical education electives completed over two years.

Health: 0.5 Credits

  • One (1) semester of health education which incorporates instruction in personal, family, community and environmental health

Additional Credit Requirements:  2 - 4 Credits

  • A student may elect to fulfill the Additional Credit Requirement by choosing either OPTION A or OPTION B

    • OPTION A (2 Credits)
    • Fine Arts: 1 Credit

      • Two (2) semesters of courses in any combination from the departments of Art and Music

      Career and Technical Education : 1 Credit

      • Two (2) semesters of courses in any combination from the following deparments: Business/Marketing, Family & Consumer Sciences, Technology Education and Biotechnology

    • OPTION B (4 Credits)

      World Language:  3 Credits

      • Six (6) semesters of one Foreign Language (during high school)

      Fine Arts: 0.5 Credits

      • One (1) semester of courses from the departments of Art and Music

      Career and Technical Education:  0.5 Credits

      • One (1) semester of courses from the following departments: Business/ Marketing, Family & Consumer Sciences, Technology Education and Biotechnology

Advisory : .25 credits

Electives: 6 - 8.5 credits

Total Credit Requirements:  23.25

  • Six (6) semesters though Algebra II (equivalent) or higher

Science : 3 Credits

  • Two (2) semesters of life science
  • Two (2) semesters of physcial science
  • Two (2) semesters of elective science course

Physical Education : 1.5 credits

  • One (1) semester of Fitness Foundation 9
  • Two (2) semesters of Physcial Education taken over two different years

Health : .5 credits

  • One (1) semester of health education which includes personal, family, community, and environmental health

Financial Literacy: .5 credits

  • One (1) semester of an MHS course (Personal Finance; Family Financial Literacy; or Economics), or an on-line course or pass proficiency exam

Service Learning : 40 hours = 10 hours per year

E-Portfolio : Successful completion for 4-year portfolio
