What is the Global Academy?
The changing economy and increasing competition for jobs is driving the need for specialized and advanced skills. Public schools are making an effort to respond to these needs but struggle to sustain advanced programs while neighboring districts experience the same difficulties. The Global Academy is a group of schools that not only began working together but also established partnerships with business, manufacturing, and post-secondary colleges to provide rigorous and innovative programs to the students in their districts.
Current participating districts include Belleville, Madison, Middleton-Cross Plains, Mount Horeb, Verona and Wisconsin Heights. Students interested in the course offerings should contact their school counselor or their district contact. If your school district is not on this list, it is possible that students could still participate by agreement between districts or through open enrollment.

What courses are taught in the Global Academy?
The Biomedical Sciences Program is a sequence of courses based on a hands-on, real-world problem-solving approach to learning. Human medicine, bioinformatics, mapping and analyzing DNA are just a few of the concepts addressed through activities like dissecting a heart, and role playing the investigation of disease diagnosis and treatment. Think CSI meets ER!
