Kent Weiler, Varsity Coach


Kent Weiler has been Middleton High School's Wrestling Coach since 2005.

A native of the Wisconsin Rapids area and a Green Bay West High School graduate, Weiler was a member of the 1984 USA Cadet National Wrestling team. During that time, Weiler lettered four times in wrestling, qualifying for state tournament twice, and placing thirid as a sophomore and was team captain in 1987 and 1988. Weiler also lettered two years in track, golf, and soccer. In addition to athletics, Weiler was involved in Swing Choir, Show Choir, Spanish, SADD, and Student Council.

Weiler wrestled and lettered four years at UW-Whitewater. As the co-captain of the team for two years, Weiler qualified as a Scholar-All American status in 1992. Weiler earned All American status placing 5th at the NCAA Division III national tournament in 1993. Weiler was the recipient of the Outstanding Wrestler Award during the last two years of his collegiate career under Hall of Fame Coach Willie Meyers. Weiler received his undergraduate from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater with a degree in education.

Weiler coached as an assistant at UW-Whitewater for two years before helping out Stoughton High School as a volunteer Wrestling Coach for one season in 1996. Weiler joined former UW-Whitewater teammate and captain Luke Francois at Waterford High School as a volunteer coach in 1997. During his few years at Waterford, Weiler assisted in coaching teams to a second place at the 1998 Individual State Tournament, assisted in coaching three state champions and four state place winners.

After being named as Cedar Grove-Belgium's head coach in 2000, Weiler coaches many additinoal state place winners and participants. Weiler remained head coach until he became co-head coach at Middleton. Weiler has been invloved in developing and promoting the sport of wrestling at all levels from a coach at the collegiate level to the youth levels at Middleton and across Wisconsin. He has also been a Wisconsin Federation representative, WIAA Coaches Advisory Board member, guest clinician, and organizer of a number of different wrestling camps and clinics.

Aaron graduated from Middleton High School in 1998 and was on the wrestling and football teams during his four years there. He wrestled in the 275-pound division throughout his high school career and captured the Big Eight Conference title in his senior year. Afterward, he attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He currently works in Verona.

Ben became the first Middleton wrestler to become a State Champion, when he won the 171 pound weight class at the WIAA State Wrestling Meet. Congratulations on this historic achievement!!
