Monday, August 15 - Registration at 8:00 a.m. in the MHS Field House. Tryouts for Varsity, JV & Freshmen will be held 8:30-11:30 a.m. & 4:00-6:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. ALL SESSIONS ARE MANDATORY!

Varsity matches normally begin at 6:30 p.m. and Junior Varsity and Freshman matches normally begin at 5:00 p.m.

Franco Marcos, Varsity Coach

Franco played on an academic scholarship for the varsity team at the Inter-American University in Puerto Rico. After graduating he continued graduate school at the UW-Madison and played on the men’s club team. Franco has been an USVBA/USAV Player since 1982 and he is an USAV Regional certified official.

Michelle Vande Hey, Varsity Assistant Coach

Michelle is a 2003 Middleton High School Graduate and was a member of the 2001 & 2002 teams that made back-to-back State appearances. She also received an athletic scholarship to play at Northwood University. At the end of her Sophomore season she was named Captain and as a senior was second team All Conference. In 2007 Michelle graduated from NU with a BBA in Entrepreneurship & Business Management. After graduating she returned to the Middleton area. Michelle is currently an assistant coach for Wisconsin Select Volleyball Club and has been since 2007. She has also been a volunteer assistant coach with Middleton since 2008. In 2010 Michelle started to enjoy doing private lessons and will continue doing so in the future.

Kathleen Shaffer, Junior Varsity Head Coach

Kathleen is a graduate of Middleton High School and played volleyball not only at MHS but also at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. She became the girls volleyball head coach for Middleton in 1993 and coached for 4 years before stepping down to coach the JV team. She has coached volleyball for MHS over the past 15 years in one capacity or another. This is her first time coaching freshman since 1990 when she coached the freshman girls volleyball team at Eau Claire North. Kathleen is a proud single mother of an eight year old named Katie that has been following her mother's volleyball coaching since being a baby. Kathleen worked for 18 years as a Claim Specialist for Cuna Mutual Group before joining Middleton High School as the Athletic Assistant in July, 2009.

Kari Weiss, Freshman Red Coach

Kari Weiss was a graduate of Plum City High School in Plum City, WI. Upon graduation she attended the College of Saint Benedict/St. John's University in St. Joseph, MN. There she majored in Social Science minored in Secondary Education. She also competed in the volleyball and basketball programs. After graduation, Kari enlisted in the United States Army Reserves, serving 8 years including a 13 month mobilization after 9/11. She has been a head volleyball and track coach, as well as an assistant basketball, La Crosse and softball coach. This is her third year at MHS and first year coaching volleyball here.
