Varsity games normally begin at 7:00 p.m. Junior Varsity and Freshman games normally begin at 5:00 p.m.

Mary Duffy, Varsity Coach
A 1974 graduate of UW Madison, Ken Burghy has been a teacher for 32 years and a head coach for 22 years. His credentials include a USSF National B license and an NSCAA National Advanced license. His conference record is 180-18-10 with 15 conference titles and nine state tournament appearances. Notably Middleton has appeared in more state tournaments since 1989, their first year at state, than any other public high school in Wisconsin, with one state championship.

Kevin Pauls , Junior Varsity Red Coach

Kevin has coached high school soccer for over 10 years at all levels including stints at McFarland, LaFollette and now Middleton and is a USSF licensed coach. He is very active in the Madison area soccer community, running both a men's and adult co-ed team. Kevin has played soccer since age 6 and continues to play on both teams as well as pick up games around the area. Graduating from McFarland High School, Kevin pursued his teaching degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated with degrees in both Education and Political Science. Currently Kevin is teaching 5th grade at Sunset Ridge Elementary in Middleton. Kevin enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing games and cheering on the Badgers and Brewers.

Brian Byrne, Junior Varsity White CoachBrian Byrne, Junior Varsity White Coach
Brian Byrne has coached both Boys and Girls Soccer at Middleton High School for over 10 years. Brian is a USSF licensed coach. He attended the Indiana University Coaches Symposium from 2001-2004. He is a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction licensed teacher in Broadfield Social Studies. Brian graduated from Middleton High School in 1987. Brian graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a major in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy. Brian has his Teacher Certification from Concordia University. Brian is an all around good guy who likes to read, hike, camp and he still plays soccer himself.

Ken BurghyPhil Nelson, Freshman Red Coach
Phil Nelson is a teacher of art at Glacier Middle School. Phil has his Masters degree. He has coached High School level soccer since 1990. Phil has his National license C level. He has been a Premier coach for 10 years. Phil is a father of five. All of his children have played soccer at levels from recreational to High School to Division 1 college soccer. Phil has been a Middleton resident for 14 years.

 

 


Nora Meissner , Freshman White Coach
Nora Meissner graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and equivalent minors in naval science and leadership and management. She was an inaugural member of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy’s women’s soccer team and also played internationally on the All-Armed Forces Women’s Soccer Team. She served five years as an officer in the Coast Guard, and is now employed by the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs.
