If you are an orchestra fan, you will want to be at the Performing Arts Center next week.
On Monday, May 15, and Thursday, May 18, the MHS extra-curricular alternative string ensemble, Philomusica, will be the featured group for the concerts of the fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade orchestras. The elementary concert has been split into two nights with so many students performing. There will also be multiple performances each night. Philomusica will perform some gypsy music, a song by Lady Gaga, and will entertain the audiences with The Adventures of Stringman.
The concert on May 15 will include students from the Kromrey Middle School area and will be held at 5:30, 6:15 and 7 p.m.. Philomusica plays at each of the three grade level concerts, ending the first two and kicking off the sixth-grade concert at 7.
The concert on May 18 will include fourth-, fifth- and sixth- grade students from the Glacier Creek Middle School area and will happen in the GCMS gym beginning at 6:30 pm.
On Tuesday, May 16, the Cardinal Orchestra will join the seventh- and eighth-graders from Glacier Creek and Kromrey in a concert starting at 7 p.m. in the PAC. The Cardinal Orchestra will perform music from the Renaissance, music that evokes the Old West, and more. To conclude the concert, the eighth-grade musicians will join the Cardinal Orchestra for a combined performance of the Bo Diddley-inspired tune Chicken Foot Transplant.
All of the concerts are free and the public is encouraged to attend.
