What do you Think?
How are you a good "digital citizen"?

Have you ever heard of the term "digital citizenship"? What does it mean? How does it affect you? These are all questions that you should be asking yourself.

Digital citizenship refers to how a person uses, contributes to, and conducts themselves within the digital world. Basically, it is how responsible a person is when it comes to using technology. People in our country have a responsibility to follow laws and represent themselves and our country in a positive way. This is what is considered good citizenship. The same is true in the digital world. People are expected to use the internet responsibly, respect others, and post only original content.

So, how does this affect you? Think about how you use the internet. What sites do you visit on a regular basis? What kind of information do you post? Do you listen to music or share photos with your friends? Do you use it for communication? To find information? Once you have considered how you spend your time online, think about how you act toward others online. Do you respect their opinions, ideas, and content or do you copy their content and post disrespectful things on their Facebook page? It is important to take the time to think about your impact in the digital world. Is it something that you are proud of or something that you will look back on and think, "I shouldn't have done that."

Take a few minutes to think about the following question, "how are you a good digital citizen?"
