Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,

I cannot wait to start another school year at Elm Lawn! I always miss the students, staff and families as we separate over the summer.  I am very excited to discover the great things that students, staff, and parent/guardians will be a part of this year at Elm Lawn.  Our building goal for this year is to individualize instruction for students, specifically in the area of math, so that we can ensure that all kids are making the most progress they possibly can.  Our staff has been on the cutting edge of writing instruction and piloted some very creative assessment and instructional tools for math during last school year. Our plan is to build on these efforts and make them more systematic throughout the building.  I cannot tell you how many staff have been working on curricular projects, getting Smartboard training, helping with the implementation of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) initiative all in an effort to increase student learning, even more. The work that we are preparing to do cannot be done without all members of the Elm Lawn family contributing.  We have a great group of people willing to work very hard to make sure kids succeed which includes families, teachers, support staff, custodians, food service providers, educational assistance, Parent Teacher Organization (PT0), and volunteers.  There is no doubt in my mind that even more wonderful things will happen at Elm Lawn Elementary this year.
